Event Timing: Jan-March 2026

 

Event Length: Approx. 7 - 2 hour sessions, Begins Tues., Jan. 27 - March 10

 

Event Address: The Senior Center Heardmont Park, 5458 Cahaba Valley Rd, Birmingham, AL 35242 6:30pm

 

Cost: $85 per person(includes 1 book to share, $35 additional if you bring someone with you is a total of $135.

 

SCBA Membership (complimentary 1st year $10.00).

-if you have a few hives but want to get connected to a local group of beekeepers or want to learn the abc’s of beekeeping

-if you want to re-establish an apiary after a period of time or have moved from another area and just want to get back involved and learn what works in beekeeping in Shelby County, AL

-you want to learn about this curious pollinating insect and all the intricacies of it all

What you will learn:

How to assemble a hive box and how the parts work together. How to purchase honey bees and queens. How to extract honey. The life cycle of honey bees. You will meet local beekeepers. Learn how and why honey is good for you. Learn some history of honey and it’s benefits. You will learn about all these interesting facts and much, much more!
